Marion J. Wilchinski, 91, Branford, formerly of East Haven
Marion Janeczek Wilchinski, 91, affectionately known as “Zsa,” a Branford resident, formerly of East Haven, died peacefully at her Branford home on April 29. She was the wife of the late Edward Wilchinski. Marion was born in New Haven on Feb. 12, 1922, daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Ptak Janeczek. She had lived on Hill Street in East Haven for many years until moving to Branford in 2002.
Marion loved her position as the assistant town clerk of East Haven, a position she held until her retirement in 1986. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed arts and crafts, ceramics, crocheting, and floral designing. Along with her late husband, Marion loved Broadway and the theater. She also had many graduates of her annual “Pierogi School”. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Susanbeth and Matthew Proto of Branford; three beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Proto, Matthew Proto, Jr. and Aviva Wilchinski-McCrea; her loving sister, Helen Janeczek of Hamden; and her loving brother Anthony Janeczek and his wife Ann of Hamden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons, Edward A. and Jim Wilchinski, and her brother, Walter Janeczek.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Saturday, May 4, at 9:15 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church, New Haven at 10 a.m., followed by burial in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
