05/01/2013 01:30 PMCharles E. Moran, 77, of Branford, formerly of New Haven, died on April 29 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. Charlie was born in New Haven on June 12, 1935, son of the late Charles E. Moran, Sr. and Margaret E. Connolly Moran. He graduated from Fordham University, and then continued on to SCSC and Fairfield University, where he received his master’s degree. Charlie had been a school teacher for 38 years with the Orange Board of Education.
Charlie was a lifelong resident of New Haven before moving to Branford 15 years ago. He was a very charitable man, donating his time and money to many worthy organizations. He was also a devoted son, always taking care of his mother in her time of need.
He is survived by his cousins, including Diane Yarish of Salem, New York. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.
His funeral procession will leave the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden, at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 3, for a mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, Burban Dr., Branford. Friends may also visit with his family at the funeral home on Thursday, May 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow the mass in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
