George A. Swift, 100, Branford
George A. Swift, 100, formerly of Swift St., Branford, died on April 24 at St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham. He was the husband of the late Mary Reiner Swift. Mr. Swift was born in Branford on Aug. 19, 1912, son of the late George W. and Lillian Mathers Swift. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked for many years as a mechanic for the Howard Company in West Haven. After retiring from the Howard Company, Mr. Swift worked at the former First Federal Bank in Branford. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Branford.
He is survived by his daughter Sally Clark and her husband William of Windham; his grandchildren, Kelly Aston and Ryan Clark; and his great-granddaughter Mariah Aston. He was predeceased by his sisters and a brother.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 29, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery. For directions and online memorial see www.wsclancy.com.
