04/25/2013 10:00 AMJohn Astarita, Jr., 61, of East Haven, beloved husband of Paula Carbone Astarita, died on April 21 at Yale-New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael Campus. John was born in New Haven on June 9, 1951, son of the late John and Lorraine Fusco Astarita. Prior to his retirement, he was a machine operator for CHR Industries and a chemical mixer for Arkwright, Inc.
His wife and two daughters thank the staffs on the CTICU and CCU floors for the special care they showed to John.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his beloved daughters, Gina and Angela Astarita, both of East Haven. He was predeceased by his brother, William Astarita. www.portofuneralhomes.net.
His funeral procession will leave the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, on Thursday, April 25, at 10:15 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11 a.m., followed by burial in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
