04/22/2013 10:00 AMBoyd L. Johnson, 70, of Wallingford, died peacefully at home on April 12 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was the husband of 48 years to Nancy Mulligan Johnson. Mr. Johnson was born in New Haven on May 27, 1942, son of the late Helge and Ella Jacobson Johnson. He had worked as an electrician for many years with IBEW Local No. 90 and was a dedicated family man, truly enjoying his six grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Kathleen Johnson of Wolcott, Boyd Johnson and his wife Denise of Clinton, and Jennifer Sullivan and her husband Steven of Wolcott. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Garrett, Abigail, Zachary, Amanda, Julia, and Ava; a brother, Tord Johnson and his wife Judith of Branford; and a sister, Clare Couture and her husband Christian of North Haven.
His funeral service was held on April 16 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in New Haven. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, CT Chapter, Unit D-4, 4 Oxford Road, Milford, CT 06460.
