04/22/2013 12:00 PMAnne Argo (Michie) Sherman, 91, of Madison, died peacefully at her Madison home on April 14. She was born on Nov. 25, 1921 in Worcester, Massachusetts, daughter of the late H. Stuart and Jeanne (Hatch) Michie. She attended the Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts, as well as Concord Academy, and she graduated from Bennington College in 1943. Her first marriage, to Dr. John Finkenstaedt, ended in divorce. Her second and third husbands, Robert G. Fairbank and Edward W. Sherman, both of Madison, predeceased her.
A resident of Madison since 1960, Mrs. Sherman was a member of the Madison Beach Club, the Madison Winter Club, the Garden Club of Madison, and, for many years, she was active in the Junior League.
She is survived by her companion Robert C. Hart of Madison; two nephews, Henry Michie of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Thomas Michie of Brookline, Massachusetts; a great niece, Eliza Michie Laurent of Worcester, Massachusetts; a stepson, Robert Fairbank, Jr. of Redwood City, California; and a stepdaughter, Laurie Sherman of Clinton.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Madison on June 13 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457. The Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
