Mary Louise DeSimone, 97, North Haven
Mary Louise Apuzzo DeSimone, 97, of 3 Northeast Dr., North Haven, died peacefully on April 5 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford, after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Lawrence DeSimone, Sr. Mrs. DeSimone was born in New Haven on March 8, 1916, daughter of the late Fernando and Rose Cavalieri Apuzzo. She had resided in North Haven since 1958 and was a machine operator for several area manufacturers, including the former National Folding Box Company, the former Newton Die Casting Company, and the former Aura Manufacturing Company of North Haven, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement in 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Harry DeSimone, Jr. and his wife Nancy of North Haven and Robert DeSimone, also of North Haven; a brother, Pasquale Apuzzo of New Haven; and four grandchildren, Elisa Molner, Melissa Abelli and her husband Jeff, and Marcus and Matthew DeSimone. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alex and Margret Carlson, Julian and Antonio DeSimone, and Victoria Molner. She was predeceased by four sisters, Carmel and Mary Apuzzo, Lucy Santore, and Rose Zammataro, and five brothers, Fred, Anthony, Joseph, Harry, and Ralph Apuzzo.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Friday, April 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Saturday, April 13, at 9:15 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
