04/10/2013 03:00 PMJulian M. Mitchell, 88, of North Haven, died on April 7 at the St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Grace Migliaro Mitchell. Julian was born in Avon, Illinois, on Nov. 9, 1924, son of the late Julian M. and Marguerite Fitzsimons Mitchell. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had worked for Uniroyal as a research chemist.
Besides his wife, he is survived by six siblings, William Mitchell, John Mitchell, Eloise Fransen, and Theresa Taylorm, all of Galesburg, Illinois, Carol Ritter of Morton, Illinois, and Kathleen Searles of California. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Mitchell, Caroline Mitchell, and Janet Mitchell, all of Galesburg, Illinois, Lois Mitchell of Colorado, Kenneth Fransen of Galesburg, Illinois, Anthony Migliaro and Joanne Migliaro, both of Florida, and Albert Colaninno, Mary Grieco, Jennie Magel, Catherine Colaninno, and Annette Migliaro, all of Connecticut. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Mitchell and Michael Mitchell; a sister, Joyce Mitchell; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clyde Taylor, Rose Cassella, Madeline Christoforo, Antoinette Migliaro, Christie Migliaro, and Andrew Migliaro.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Thursday, April 11, at 9:30 a.m., for a mass of Christian burial at St. Barnabas Church 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
