03/25/2013 10:00 AMCharles Cargan, 71, of North Haven, died at his home on March 17 after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was the husband of 46 years to Bonnie Cargan. Charles was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his grandchildren, Cameron, Max, and Delaney, whom he adored. Charles never missed a chance to watch his grandchildren’s games.
Charles was a proud retired member of the Hamden Fire Department, where he served for 33 years. He was also a member of the 225th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War era. In addition, Charles was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants and rarely missed watching a game.
Charles will be greatly missed but the memory of him will live on through his friends and family who are grateful to have known him.
Besides his wife and three grandchildren, Charles is survived by three sons, Chris, Keith, and Reid; two daughters-in-law, Reilly and Stephanie; and his sister Linda Kocsinski. He was predeceased by his mother Florice Cargan and a sister, Judy Roy. www.northhavenfuneral.com
A funeral service with military honors and “Celebration of his Life” will be conducted at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m., officiated by The Rev.
