Helen (Patterson) Fiorelli, 94, wife of Louis F. Fiorelli, Sr., died peacefully on March 14 in hospice care at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Middletown. Helen was born in Maytown, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 2, 1918, the eldest of four children born to Rosier and Susan Patterson.  She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in 1942 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and served for 18 months before her honorable discharge. While serving her country, Helen met “Lou,” her beloved husband of 68 years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Louis Fiorelli, Jr. (Skip) and his wife Rosemary of Essex, Patricia Fiorelli and her husband John Newton of Newburyport, Massachusetts, and Mary Fiorelli and her husband Dennis Doherty of Mystic. She is also survived by her four grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Kim Fiorelli, Michael and Dawn Fiorelli, Laura Ferraguto and Daniel Carr, and Katharine Ferraguto, as well as three great-grandchildren, Jack, Katie, and Erin Fiorelli. 

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on March 20 at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 161 Main St., Old Saybrook, followed by burial with military honors in Riverside Cemetery, Sheffield St., Old Saybrook.
