Marylin A. (King) Briggs Johnson, 76, Clinton and Old Saybrook

Marylin A. (King) Briggs Johnson, 76, of Clinton, died Feb. 18 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown.  She was the loving wife of Philip Johnson.  Marylin was born in Middletown on Oct. 5, 1936, daughter of the late Nelson E. and Dora Irene (Clark) King.  She had lived in Clinton for 30 years, moved to Old Saybrook in 1992, and returned to Clinton in 2008.  Marylin loved gardening and had a love for animals, especially dogs, adopting many rescues throughout the years.  She enjoyed feeding all the deer, chipmunks, squirrels, birds and woodchucks, and watching “her critters” in her backyard.  Neighbors would stop when driving by with their children, as they enjoyed watching the deer.

Marylin would always help anyone in need, and lend her advice, etc.  She had a great compassion for the “downtrodden,” disabled, and elderly folks in need of help.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lyn-Marie Plancon; her brother Robert King and his wife Kathy; her stepsons, Philip E. and Kenneth A. Johnson; four grandchildren, Samantha Foy, Christopher Foy, Tonya Foerch, and BJ Nadwairski; four step-grandchildren, Tara Maertz, Lauren Johnson, Jake Johnson, and Shannon Johnson; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Princess and Ginger.  She was predeceased by her son John A. Crommett.

Friends and family are invited to the United Methodist Church, 12 Commence St. Clinton, on Friday Feb. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service starting at 11 a.m.  Private burial will take place at a later date.  The Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
