Paul J. Wollock, 91, Deep River


Paul J. “Pat” Wollock, 91, a lifelong resident of Deep River, died on Jan. 7 at the Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chester. Pat was the beloved husband of Marie F. (Haglund) Wollock, who predeceased him on Dec. 19, 2012. Pat and Marie enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Pat was born in Deep River at the family homestead on Warsaw Street on June 7, 1921, son of the late Peter and Sophie (Bielot) Wollock. He attended local schools and later joined his brothers working in the family business, Deep River Construction, and later at Ferry Point Marina in Old Saybrook, which the family developed during the early 1960s. Pat was a heavy equipment operator, and he also did contract bulldozer work for many years at the Town of Essex Transfer Station.

Pat was a communicant at Saint Joseph’s Church in Chester. He was also a member of the Westbrook Elks and was a former member of the John Soboleski III Club in Deep River. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Pat proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the 241st AAF Base Unit specializing in the maintenance and repair of all types of bombardment aircraft.

Pat was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Wollock of Essex and Patricia Hazuka of Deep River; his grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, and Patrick; and his sister, Wanda Haney of Essex. He was predeceased by his grandson Michael; his brothers, Stanley, Edward, and Charles Wollock; and his sister Mildred Dorr.

Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, on Friday, Jan. 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  His funeral mass will follow at Saint Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Ave., Chester, at 12 noon. Committal prayers with the rendering of full military honors will take place in the parish cemetery following the funeral mass.
