James Richard Coss, 82, North Haven


James Richard Coss, 82, of North Haven, died Dec. 18 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.  He was the husband of Mary A. Chiappetta Coss. Mr. Coss was born in New Haven on Jan. 15, 1930, son of the late Joseph M. and Dorothy Holian Coss. He had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and had worked as a treasurer for C. Cowles and Company for many years until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Lisa M. Blees and her husband Karl of North Haven, Stephen F. Coss and his wife Judy of Madison, Wisconsin, and David J. Coss and his wife Francine of East Haven; seven grandchildren, Olivia Blees, and Dylan, Kevin, Brett, Stephen, Anthony, and Joseph Coss; a sister, Gertrude Rzasa of Orange; and a brother, Joseph P. Coss of West Haven. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Weyer.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Monday, Dec. 24, at 9:30 a.m.  Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m., followed by burial with full military honors in All Saints Cemetery.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
