Raffaele D'Antonio, 86, East Haven
Raffaele D’Antonio, 86, of East Haven, beloved husband of Livia Lucatino D’Antonio, died at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, on Dec. 6, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gioia Sannitica, Caserta, Italy, on Nov. 23, 1926, son of the late Gabriele and Maria Michela Zurlo D’Antonio. Raffaele had been a member of Laborers Union Local No. 455 and had worked for the former C.W. Blakeslee Construction Company. He loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, gardening, crabbing, and playing Bocce.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Maria DiMatteo and her husband Carmen, Gabriele D’Antonio and his wife Carmela, Anna Troiano and her husband Michael, Antonio D’Antonio and his wife Rosemary, Vincenzo D’Antonio and his wife Teresa, Orietta Nucolo and her husband Anthony, and Olimpia D’Antonio. He is also survived by his brother Michele D’Antonio of Gioia Sannitica, Caserta, Italy; his sister-in-law Elisa Dichello D’Antonio; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three children, Michelina, Rosa, and Filomena D’Antonio; his brother Gaetano D’Antonio; and his sister-in-law Anna Gaudio D’Antonio.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 9:15 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.
