11/16/2012 03:00 PMRoberta C. "Cathy" Watts, 90, of North High Street, East Haven, died in New Haven on Nov. 8. She was the wife of the late Harold Watts. Mrs. Watts was born in New York City on June 6, 1922, daughter of the late Dorthea DeVercelly Forbes and stepdaughter of the late Karyl Forbes. She graduated from Central High School in Purdy Station, New York, and later moved to East Haven where she resided for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Watts was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft and then worked for 19 years as an assistant town clerk in East Haven. Earlier this year, she was officially named a historian for the Town of East Haven. She also served as treasurer of the East Haven Municipal Employees Credit Union; was been appointed to the Old Cemetery Board; and was a member of the East Haven Garden Club and Christ and the Epiphany Church.
She is survived by her loving sons, Robert H. Watts of Budapest, Hungary, Charles Michael Watts of Branford, and Karyl W. Watts of Bound Brook, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Charissa Andrade, Leah Gionfriddo, and Steven Watts; and her sister, Rosemarie Naples of Durham. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m., at Christ and the Epiphany Church, East Haven, followed by burial in East Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Haven Food Pantry, 39 Park Place, East Haven, CT 06512.
