James D. Thomson, 84, Killingworth, formerly of Madison
James D. Thomson, 84, of Killingworth, formerly of Madison and River Vale, New Jersey, died on Nov. 12. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Patricia (Breen) Thomson. James was born in Canada on Jan. 30, 1928, son of the late Roy and Nellie (Branton) Thomson. He was a graduate of the Detroit Engineering School, class of 1950. James was also a Korean War veteran and worked for 50 years as a manager/executive of major U.S. industrial design/build projects. In addition, he had been a member of Madison Golf Club since 1973.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Kathleen Cason and her husband John of Athens, Georgia, Jim “Mick” Thomson and his wife Lissa (Parke) of San Diego, California, Christopher Thomson and his wife Kristen (Suchecki) of Bangor, Maine, and Karen Gordon and her husband David of Ballston Lake, New York. He is also survived by nine grandchildren who called him “Baba,” Jim Limmer and his wife Amy, John Limmer and his wife Meaghan, Lily and David Cason, Brian and Katie Thomson, Angie Whittington, Sara Thomson, and Seth Gordon and his wife Shelly; six great-grandchildren, Mattick Limmer, twins Beth and JT Limmer, Savannah and Joseph Whittington, and Andrew Gordon; and two brothers, Robert and Edward Thomson, both of Canada. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan (Thomson) Limmer, and two brothers, William and Jack Thomson.
His family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend an 11:15 a.m. funeral mass on Saturday, Nov. 17 at St. Lawrence Church, Killingworth, followed by burial with military honors in Evergreen Cemetery.
