11/01/2012 12:00 AMLillian Amport, 98, of Madison, formerly of Essex Fells, New Jersey, died peacefully at the Watrous Nursing Home on Oct. 14. She was the wife of the late John (Jack) Amport, who predeceased her in 1991. Born and raised in New Britain as a first-generation American, Mrs. Amport maintained her connection to her Swedish roots throughout her lifetime. She met her husband, Jack, while she was on staff as a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Amport was a past member of the Madison Winter Club and the Madison Beach Club, and she was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by two daughters, Karin Peterson of Madison and Judy Cook of Wilton, and a son, John Amport of Killingworth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will remember their "Nana" for her many accomplishments with needlecraft, the best-ever potato salad, her love of family, ready smile, can-do attitude, and her always positive outlook on life.
