John O. Filardi, 83, Guilford
John O. Filardi, 83, a long time resident of Guilford, died Oct. 11 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. He was the beloved husband of Connie Filardi. John was born in New Haven on Jan. 18, 1929, son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Filardi. He had served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, stationed in San Antonio, Texas. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rodrigo Council No. 44 and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights. He had owned and operated his own construction business, building primarily in New Haven, and had worked at Southern Connecticut State University as a Maintenance Supervisor 1 until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two beloved children, Lynda Corsini and her husband Frank of Guilford and Lee Ann Simjian and her husband John of North Branford. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Aden Helland, Amber Hanrahan, Morgan Corsini, Tammy Way, Renee Vielleux, and Stacey Collins; 10 great- grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Filardi of New Haven. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Filardi and his sister Rosemarie Nicefaro.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
