10/15/2012 11:00 AMMaryann Melillo, 60, of Cosey Beach Rd., East Haven, died Sept. 30 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Haven on May 5, 1952, daughter of the late Alphonse and Alice Langello Melillo. Maryann had had many jobs, working for many years for Pathmark as a meat packer, Quest Diagnostic Labs, and as a crossing guard. One of her other jobs, as a dog walker, came from her great love of animals. Maryann had a kind heart and did a lot of work in the community, including the Ladies Guild at St. Clare Church, donating her time at the food bank, and donating blood, as well as many long hours setting up reunions for the EHHS class of 1970. In addition, she was a huge New York Yankees fan.
Family was everything to Maryann, and she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse and Richard Melillo, and two sisters, Patricia Bova and Alberta Bagnoli
A mass was held at St. Clare Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The East Haven Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
