10/15/2012 11:00 AMHarriet “Hattie” Celotto, 86, of New Haven, died Oct. 4 at Madison House. She was the wife of the late Ralph Celotto. Mrs. Celotto was born in New Haven on Aug. 11, 1925, daughter of the late Eva Dubé Winchell. She had worked for the Union Trust Bank as a cafeteria manager for many years.
One of the more active residents at Bella Vista, Hattie was president of her building and was a correspondent for the Bella Vista Reporter. She was an active volunteer, serving as a board member for the Agency on Aging, as a member of the Democratic Town Committee, and as co-chair of Ward 11 A&B at Bella Vista. Hattie was also one of the original organizers of the annual talent show fundraiser to benefit the Connecticut Hospice.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Donald Oconnor, and two granddaughters, Rynne and Shannon Oconnor, all of North Branford. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eunice Fish and Grace Sargent.
A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. The East Haven Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
