10/08/2012 04:00 PMNadine M. Viel, 80, of Branford, died at the Connecticut Hospice on Oct. 6 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Frank L. Viel, Sr. Mrs. Viel was born on Oct. 16, 1931 in East Calais, Vermont, daughter of the late Henry and Hazel Holt Crossman. She volunteered at the Canoe Brook Senior Center in Branford.
She is survived by her children, Denise V. Simonsen of North Branford, Kim Girven of Middletown, Frank Viel, Jr. of Meriden, Tracy DeCola of North Branford, and Kyle Viel of Branford; her grandchildren, Cori Girven, Jason Simonsen, Madeline Simonsen, Nicholas Viel, Alex Viel, and Kimmy Viel; her brother, Henry "Bruce" Crossman of Naples, Florida; and her sisters, Natalie Daly of Winter Springs, Florida, and Sharyn Cardaropoli of Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford.
