Margaret M. Scarpo DeMatteis, 97, East Haven
Margaret M. Scarpo DeMatteis, 97, of 560 Silver Sands Rd., East Haven, died Oct. 1 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert DeMatteis. Margaret was born in New Haven on June 27, 1915, daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Mendillo Scarpo. She had resided in Hamden for most of her life and in East Haven for the last 20 years.
She is survived by three devoted daughters, Joanne (Mrs. Frank) Benevento of Cheshire, Jacqueline Kasprzycki Stewart of Ringwood, New Jersey, and Deborah Buonocore of New Haven, and eight adoring grandchildren, Dorinda Bartletta and her husband Glen, Janice Palmieri, Karen Howe and her husband Stephen, Craig Kasprzycki and his wife Aleisa, Alicia Kasprzycki, Joseph Buonocore III and his partner Maria Longinitis, Melissa Buonocore, and Christopher Buonocore and his fiancee Diane Sauerbrunn. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Frank Scarpo.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 12 noon, at the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Entombment took place in the Beaverdale Mausoleum.
