10/01/2012 01:00 PMPauline Hoyt, 85, of Essex, died on Sept. 26 at the Chesterfields Healthcare Center in Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence M. Hoyt, who predeceased her on Dec. 21, 2010. Pauline was born in Fairfield on June 16, 1926, daughter of Michael and Mary Ference. She was one of the first employees of Pepperidge Farm in Fairfield when it began in the kitchen of its founder, Margaret Rudkin.
Pauline and Lawrence were married in Fairfield on April 11, 1952. Pauline had been a resident of Essex since 1959 and was formerly of Ridgefield. She was employed by the Falivene family of Essex, providing secretarial and office duties for their masonry company. She enjoyed traveling and especially her yearly trips to Las Vegas, and her visits to the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence M. Hoyt of Ivoryton; her brother, Johnny Ference of New York; and her sister, Helen Readey of Stratford. She was predeceased by her eight siblings. www.rwwfh.com.
Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, on Monday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted for both Pauline and Lawrence on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
