09/19/2012 03:00 PMMary Edith Scarsciotti Nesto, 85, of 91 Beacon St., Hamden, died on Sept. 15 at Yale-New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael Campus after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Nesto, Jr. Mary was born in Sarnano, Province of Macerata, Italy, on Aug. 30, 1927, daughter of the late Gino and Altavilla Sargolini Scarsciotti. She had resided in Hamden for most of her life.
The Nesto family extends their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Apple-Rehab Laurelwoods in East Haven, as well as the staff at Verdi 4 West, Hospital of St. Raphael, for the loving care given to their mom.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Annmarie Stevenson of Hamden; two sons, Frank Nesto III and his wife Maryann of Wallingford, and Richard Nesto and his wife Rosemary of North Haven; one brother, Paul Scarsciotti and his wife Mary of Syracuse, New York; six grandchildren, Lisa Sala, Frank Nesto IV and his wife Amanda, Lindsey Jordan and her husband Vincent, Gina Vlake and her husband John, Richard Nesto, Jr., and Melissa Nesto; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony Sala, Giuliana and Vincent Jordan, Kyla Nesto, and John and Joseph Vlake.
There are no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave., Hamden. Burial will be private. The Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, North Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
