09/10/2012 11:00 AMJennie (Bombaci) Cutone, 97, a lifelong resident of Essex, died at her home on Sept. 4. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome F. Cutone, who predeceased her in 2009. Jennie was born in Essex, daughter of the late John and Lavinia (DeStefano) Bombaci. She owned and ran a farmstand on Route 154 for many years in the 1950s and early 1960s, and she went on to work at the Lee Company for 10 years before her retirement. Jennie was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and was also an accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by her son, Tony Cutone of Essex, and her brother, Thomas G. Bombaci of Manson, Washington. She was predeceased by four brothers, Anthony, Santo, Joseph, and Victor, and her sister, Marie Bonanno.
A mass of Christian burial will held at Our Lady of Sorrow Church, Prospect St., Essex, on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerbrook Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to either the Visiting Nurses of the Lower Valley, 61 Main St., Centerbrook, CT 06409, or to the Essex Ambulance Association, Box 233, Ivoryton, CT 06442.
