08/30/2012 12:00 PMMary “Bea” Pero Sorvillo, 83, of East Haven, died on Aug. 11 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the wife of the late Alphonse Sorvillo. Mary was born in New Haven on July 9, 1929, daughter of the late James and Josephine Maltese Pero. Mary had been a hairdresser for most of her adult life working at several area salons for more than 50 years. She finally retired in 1992 from Unique Techniques of East Haven. Mary was a member of the Jolly Timers and the East Haven Seniors.
She is survived by a sister, Joanne Pernal and her husband John of Camden, New York; two brothers, Joseph Pero and his wife Shirley of Zephyr Hills, Florida, and Orazio Pero of Deland, Florida; and several nieces and nephews, especially her dear niece Janice McNamara of Roswell, Georgia. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Pero.
A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Clare Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. The East Haven Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
