Margaret C. Evangelista, 86, West Haven


 Margaret Caputo Evangelista, 86, of 1187 Campbell Ave., West Haven, died suddenly on Aug. 21 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfredo Evangelista. Mrs. Evangelista was born in New Haven on April 22, 1926, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Tangredi Caputo. She was a lifelong West Haven resident and had been a machine operator at several area companies. She had last worked at the Pez Candy Factory of Milford for three years, retiring in 1991. She is survived by two daughters, Lucille Vitelli of West Haven and Diane Iaquinto and her husband John of East Haven; two sons, Alfredo Evangelista of West Haven and John Evangelista and his wife Cecilia of North Haven; a sister, Adeline LaPorta of West Haven; a brother, Peter Caputo and his wife Patty of Hamden; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Toby Caputo.

A funeral service, officiated by The Rev. Timothy Meehan, will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., at the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Burial will be private.
