Charles H. Hackerman, 71, North Haven
Charles H. Hackerman, 71, of North Haven, died Aug. 7 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Charlie was born in Waterbury on Sept. 14, 1940, and had resided in North Haven for most of his life. Charlie owned and operated the former Charlie Hack's Cafe of North Haven. He loved music and sports, playing the guitar, and he really enjoyed going to the movies with his grandson Daniel. Charlie also coached in North Haven’s softball and basketball leagues for many years, and also coached basketball at the Hamden YMCA for several years.
He is survived by his beloved children, Deborah Hackerman of East Haven, David Hackerman and his wife Debra of Southington, William Hackerman of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Billy Guy of North Haven. He is also survived by his brother Danny, his sister Charlotte, and three grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church St., North Haven, on Friday, Aug. 10, for a funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be private. The Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, North Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
