Phyllis Landolfi Marino, 75, of East Haven, formerly of Grafton St., New Haven, died peacefully on July 31 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford, with her family by her side.  She was wife of the late Pasquale G. Marino.  Phyllis was born in New Haven on Feb. 23, 1937, daughter of the late Peter Landolfi and Alice Piscopo Landolfi Saccavino.  Phyllis had worked for Arthur T. Barberi Insurance and the Machinists Union, and later for the Livable Cities Initiative for the City of New Haven. 

A lifelong Democrat, Phyllis was a member of the Democratic State Central Committee and was a co-ward chairman in the City of New Haven.  Also known as “Politics Phyllis,” she made countless friends, was an effective mentor to countless young people, was an organizer extraordinaire, ran the local headquarters and countless elections, and she never overlooked anyone, taking  care of the candidate and the poll worker alike. She also enjoyed going to the casino, was a devoted New York Yankees fan, and truly enjoyed her Brazo’s Cottage Association family.

Phyllis was one of the funniest people anyone could ever meet, and she had a heart of gold. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by two children, Andrea Marino of Branford and NHPD Sgt. Pasquale J. Marino and his wife Pam of New Haven. She is also survived by her grandson, Gennaro John Marino. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Battista.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 9:30 a.m.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Church, North Haven, at 10 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be Friday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT  06405.  www.northhavenfuneral.com
