Mark C. Stanberry, MD, 69, Ivoryton
Mark C. Stanberry, MD, 69, of Ivoryton, died on July 29 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Candy Stanberry. A beloved psychiatrist, devoted husband and father, and a man of many interests and talents, words alone cannot capture Dr. Stanberry’s kind, compassionate, and wise nature.
Born in Washington State, Dr. Stanberry graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Arizona before attending Harvard Medical School. After serving as a psychiatrist for the U.S. Navy, New London Child and Family, and Niantic Women’s Prison, he began a 35-year private practice dedicated to the well being of his patients.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two children, Kirsten and Matt, and his brother Alan.
The Old Lyme Congregational Church, for which Dr. Stanberry was a pastoral counselor, will host a memorial service and reception at 11a.m. on Aug. 4.
