William K. Morris, 73, Deep River


William K. “Bill” Morris, 73, of Deep River, died on June 21 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Pitts) Morris, whom he married at The First Congregational Church of Deep River on April 18, 1973. Bill was born in Middletown on May 29, 1939, son of the late Robert and Rhoda (Leete) Morris. He had been a resident of Deep River for the past 50 years and had formerly resided in Chester. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He had also been a printer for 25 years at UARCO in Deep River prior to his retirement.

Bill had been a member of The First Congregational Church of Deep River since 1973. He had also been a member of the Deep River Fire Department for 30 years and was a coach for Tri-Town Football and the Deep River Little League. Bill enjoyed fishing, was an avid fan of the New York Giants, and loved spending time on Cape Cod and being at the beach.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, William and Steven Morris, both of Chester, and Susan Kummer of Wallingford; his stepchildren, Donald Rankin of Ivoryton, Kevin Rankin of Deep River, and Lisa Bibbiani of Deep River; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert of Newbury, New Hampshire, and Charles of New Lebanon, New York.

Visitation will be held at The First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church St., Deep River, on Sunday, June 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.  His funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m., at the church, followed by burial with full military honors in Fountain Hill Cemetery, High St., Deep River. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Deep River Fire Department, 57 Union St., Deep River, CT 06417. The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook, is in charge of arrangements.
