Theodore A. Czaplicki, 83, Clinton


Theodore A. Czaplicki, 83, of Clinton, died on June 16.  He was the beloved husband of Georgiana Czaplicki. Teddy was born in East Haven on July 27, 1928, son of the late Sophie and Anthony Czaplicki. He had served in the Merchant Marines aboard the USS Troy and later served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa during World War II.

Teddy was a lifetime member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge No. 1784. He also volunteered for the Clinton Relay for Life and had delivered Meals on Wheels in Clinton for many years. In addition, he volunteered at the George Flynn Classical concerts in Clinton.

Teddy was an avid gardener and he loved the Boston Red Sox. He had a great sense of humor and entertained many with his storytelling.  

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan Pire and her husband Gary of Ivoryton and Janet King and her husband Dan of Auburn Alabama. He is also survived by a sister, Florence Newell and her husband Herbert of New Hampshire, and he will be missed by his grandchildren, Bethany Boyle and her husband Brian, and Ryan and Kaitlin King, as well two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Libby Boyle. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Shugrue and Stella Piedescalzo.

A mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, June 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Visitation Church in Clinton. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 20, at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main St., Clinton, from 4 to 7 p.m.  Messages of condolence may be made online at www.swanfh.com.
