Eleanor Ciarelli, 76, Northford


Eleanor Cuomo Ciarelli, 76, of Brookfield Rd., Northford, died June 20 at the Arden House Care & Rehab Center, Hamden.  She was born in New Haven on March 26, 1936, daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Barone Cuomo. Eleanor loved singing in the choir at St. Therese Church in North Haven for many years. She also enjoyed crafts, making beautiful greeting cards, painting, and sketching.  In addition, Eleanor prayed for everyone she knew and loved, even for people she didn’t know. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doreen and Glenn Stokes; her son, Joseph Ciarelli; her granddaughter, Lisa Gamsby and her husband Jason; and four siblings, Frank and Mike Cuomo, Carmel O’Brien, and Phyllis Doheny.  She is also survived by her extended family, Mother Seraphima, Mother Xenya, Mother Pelagia, and Mother Martha, all of the Holy Nativity Convent in Boston, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a sister, Julia Perrelli, and two brothers, George and Nick Cuomo. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22, at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven, and are also invited to attend committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.
