06/21/2012 01:45 PMCarolyn E. Scharf, 72, of Clinton, died June 18 at Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook. She was the widow of William C. Scharf. Mrs. Scharf was born in Corona Queens, New York, daughter of the late Arthur and Edna (Johnson) Dougherty. Until her retirement she had been employed as a telephone operator.
She is survived by four siblings, Arthur E. Dougherty and his wife Jean of Texas, Dennis J. Dougherty and his wife Carol of Clinton, Eileen Jensen of Long Island New York, and Bernadette Burg and her husband Richard of Hicksville, New York. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Visitation will be on Friday, June 22, from 9:30 to10:45 a.m., at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main St., Clinton. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
