06/15/2012 01:00 PMPhyllis A. Zuppe Giannelli, 73, of Wallingford, formerly of North Branford, died peacefully on June 9 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of 53 years to Stephen A. Giannelli, Sr. Phyllis was born in New Haven on May 31, 1939, daughter of the late James and Sophie Schmidt Zuppe. Phyllis had lived most of her life in North Branford and worked at the Starter Company for 23 years and later as a staff member at the North Branford Cafeteria for many years. Her main focus was the love of her family and making a happy and nurturing home for them.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Cathy A. Giannelli, to whom she was devoted. She is also survived by three siblings, James Zuppe, Jr. of West Haven, Frances McCann of Tampa, Florida, and Margret Delfranco of New Haven, and her loving nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by the two children she was a nanny to for over 17 years, Evangalese and Michael Calamita. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Stephen A. Giannelli, Jr.; three sisters, Rose Zambrano, Catherine Seales, and Dorothy Hansen; and a brother, John Gasser.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Monday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, North Branford, at 11 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery. www.northhavenfuneral.com
