Nicholas F. D'Errico III, 64, North Haven

Nicholas F. D’Errico III, 64, of 113 Scrub Oak Rd., North Haven, died May 24 at the Hospital of St. Raphael.  He was the husband of Florence Vanacore D’Errico. Nick was born in New Haven on Jan. 21, 1948, son of the late Nicholas F. D’Errico, Jr. and Jean Russo D’Errico.  Nick spent most of his life as a self-employed musician (drummer), along with being a draftsman for a Hamden-based engineering firm in his early years.  His passions and hobbies crossed a wide and adventurous spectrum, from being an avid corkscrew collector and author of American Corkscrew Patents 1921-1992 in 1993, to his love for fine wines and cigars, to being a member of the North Haven Historical Society.  In addition, and most dear to his heart, he was the president of the International Sand Collectors Society (ISCS), was a member of the Connecticut Historical Automobile Society (CHAS), and, from the age of 16, had been a member of the Rolls Royce Owner’s Club, owning three of the cars throughout his life.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Nicholas F. D’Errico IV and his son’s fiancée, Jennifer Melendez.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  The North Haven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  www.northhavenfuneral.com
