Margaret B. Becker, 99, Deep River
Margaret B. Becker, 99, a life long resident of Deep River, died on April 18 at Apple Rehabilitation in Old Saybrook. She was the beloved wife of the late George A. Becker, who predeceased her in 1989. Born in Deep River on July 23, 1912, she was the daughter of Carl and Esther (Anderson) Benson. Margaret had worked for over 30 years in the main office of the former Deep River Savings Bank as a teller. She had also been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centerbrook for many years. She was a devoted Red Sox fan, an avid card player, and enjoyed all types of needlework.
She is survived by her son, William J. Becker of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and his wife Elizabeth; five grandsons, Karl, Charlie, Larry, Joseph, and William D. Becker; and a granddaughter, Karen Stallard. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Courtney Stallard and Isabella Becker. She was predeceased by her son, George B. Becker; her brother, Burger Benson; and her sister, Ostrid Quist.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 109 Main St., Centerbrook, on Tuesday, April 24, at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Fountain Hill Cemetery, High St., Deep River.
