04/12/2012 12:00 AMElizabeth “Betty” Venditto Florio, 79, a resident of East Haven for the past 58 years, died April 10 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the wife of the late Carl “Flip” Florio. Mrs. Florio was born in New Haven on Dec. 28, 1932, daughter of the late Peter and Lucille Chambrelli Venditto. She attended St. John’s High School and had worked for many banks over the years, including Bank of Boston and the New Haven Savings Bank. Mrs. Florio loved cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Ladies’ Guild and past vice-president of the Annex YMA Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald Florio of East Haven, Carl Florio of Wallingford, and Victor Florio and his wife Grace of Milford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christina, Peter, Anthony, Jacquelin, Victoria, Nicholas, and Christopher; her great-grandson Samuel; a brother, Michael Venditto and his wife Lorraine; and several close nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially her loving cousin Louise Perrotti.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Saturday, April 14, at 9:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Church, North Haven, at 10 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday, April 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. www.northhavenfuneral.com
