Mary Barnowski, 87, North Haven
Mary Barnowski, 87, of Pool Rd., North Haven, died Feb. 27 at Whitney Manor in Hamden. She was the wife of the late Joseph Barnowski. Mary was born in Ansonia on May 4, 1924, daughter of the late William and Mary Collins Dillon. She most recently worked as a demonstrator in the food industry and had earlier worked for M & B Manufacturing and Second National Bank.
Mary was a member and past president of the PRCU and had been a dedicated member of the North Haven Republican Town Committee for over 30 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 88. She will be fondly remembered as the “sample lady” for her years as a product demonstrator at several local stores and for proudly and lovingly providing the special Easter Kielbasa for her brother Sonny’s family.
She is survived by her son, David Barnowski and his wife Angela of Vermont; her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Eckart of New York; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Dillon. She was the aunt of William Dillon and his wife Linda, MaryEllen Sands and her husband John, Fran Signore, and Patti Carlo and her husband Marty, as well as several nieces and nephews on the Harry Barnowski, Jr. side. She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Steven, Mark, Joseph, Elisa, Dana, Jason, Michael, Shannon, Shelby, Colby, and Salvatore, and two special friends, Carolyn Wright and Dolores Marelli. She was predeceased by two brothers, William Joseph, Jr. and Michael (Sonny) Dillon.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Thursday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.
