05/17/2011 12:00 AMEzra Gene Gossage, 76, of Old Saybrook, died on May 1. He was the husband of Jacqueline Olsen Gossage, whom he married on May 12, 1962. He was born on Feb. 17, 1937 in Columbia, Tennessee, son of Thalmadge (Jack) and Laoma Gossage. Gene graduated from Wadsworth High School in Ohio and from Northwestern University with dual majors. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles his sophomore year at NU. On Oct. 23, 1960, Gene’s hometown honored him (“the Gridiron Ambassador”) during Gene Gossage Day at Cleveland’s Lakefront Stadium.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Charles Carr; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Lovisa Gossage; his grandson, Hudson Carr; and many devoted friends.
A memorial will be held at the Clinton Country Club, 128 Old Post Rd.
