05/16/2011 12:00 AMWilliam Peter Brainerd, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died on May 7. He was the husband of Patsy Hayter Brainerd. He was born in New Haven on Sept. 10, 1941, son of the late Hilda (Gunther) Brainerd and Gordon Brainerd, Sr.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, William Brainerd, Jr. and his wife Kate Shepard of Chester; Michele Brainerd Nuhn and her husband Todd of Killingworth; Christian Brainerd of Guilford; and Marc Brainerd of Guilford. He is also survived by his siblings, Gordon Brainerd, Jr. and his wife Leah of Branford; Constance Francois and her husband William of Guilford; Dana Brainerd and his wife Jill of Westbrook; Renee Stannard of Port Charlotte, Florida; Lucille Ward and her husband James of Placida, Florida; Robin Faulkner and her husband Larry of Augusta, Georgia; and Judith Flinn of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Alexis and Mikayla Nuhn of Killingworth, and Sarah Shepard, Emily Brainerd, and Elijah Brainerd of Chester; and many nieces and nephews.
