05/02/2011 12:00 AMLynn Britt of Old Saybrook died on April 26 at the Gladeview Nursing Home, Old Saybrook. Born in London in 1932, Lynn trained as a dancer and ran the Bristol School of Dancing. She also taught at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she worked with Jeremy Irons and Daniel Day Lewis, among many others.
In 1982, Lynn relocated to Connecticut and became an artistic director at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre School and, from 1983 to 1989, ran the National Theatre Institute - a professional training program for young actors. Hundreds of students benefited from her wealth of knowledge and experience and her indefatigable energy.
Lynn ran international exchanges with theatres in Paris, London, and Moscow, and also directed many productions here in Connecticut, including productions at the Ivoryton Playhouse, most notably Max Showalter’s Touch of the Child. In addition, she worked as a casting director in movies and television and had many private students who are now working in theatre and film.
Lynn is survived by her brother Ken in England, and by her daughter Francesca, son-in-law Marcus, and grandson Cory, all of Old Saybrook.
