Mary C. O'Keefe, 92, Madison
Mary C. O’Keefe, 92, of Madison, died March 11 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John V. O’Keefe. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Feb. 15, 1919, daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (Clarke) Costello. She had resided in Worcester, Massachusetts, until moving to Madison in 1996. Prior to moving to Worcester, Mary had worked for AT&T in Boston, Massachusetts. She had been a devoted volunteer for many organizations during her years in Worcester. Mary was a wonderful friend to everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Mulvey and her husband Kenneth of Guilford. She is also survived by three grandchildren, in whom she delighted, Gregory of Farmington, Timothy of Memphis, Tennessee, and Tara of Washington, D.C. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and numerous friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by her seven brothers, Walter, John, Thomas, Francis, Redmond, James, and Richard Costello, and two sisters, Margaret Sullivan Kirby and Rita Caires.
A mass of Christian burial was held on March 14 at St. Margaret’s Church, Madison. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester, Massachusetts, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s name to the Community Soup Kitchen, c/o Christ Church, 84 Broadway, New Haven, CT 06511. The Swan Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.
