Johanna P. Von Deck, 92, Lebanon, New Hampshire, formerly of Ivoryton and Madison


Johanna (Pandiani) Von Deck, 92, died March 6 at Genesis Healthcare in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She was the beloved wife of the late Charlton J. Von Deck, Sr., who predeceased her on Jan. 1, 1988.  Johanna was born in Madison on Jan. 14, 1919, daughter of the late Giovanni Pandiani and Caterina (Adamoli) Pandiani.  Both she and her husband spent most of their years in Ivoryton.

Johanna graduated from Deep River High School as secretary of her class and was employed at Chesebrough Ponds, formerly of Clinton. She was also a gracious homemaker.  Her greatest love however, was her family.  In her retirement years, Johanna had lived at the Essex Court Senior Housing Center in Centerbrook. She had attended the Catholic Church in Chester throughout her life, and was last a member of the Methodist Church of Groton, Vermont, with her husband.

Johanna’s influence and love were significant for her daughter, two sons, and their families. Johanna’s family extends its appreciation to all those at Lebanon Center – Genesis Healthcare for the exemplary care and love they gave “Noni” and her family.

She is survived by two children, Charlie Von Deck and his wife Mary of North Port, Florida, and Joanne Barnett of Lebanon, New Hampshire, as well as her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Von Deck of Middletown.  She was known as “Noni” to her grandchildren, CharlotteJean B. Luce, John K. Barnett, Jr., and Jesse Von Deck; “Great Noni” to her great-grandchildren, Anne, Andrea, Chris and Brooke, Conner, Drake, and Xavier; and “G-G” to her great-great-grandchildren, Kyla, Hailey, John Michael, Noah, Matthew, Isaiah, and Mya.  She was predeceased on Jan. 10, 2011 by her son, Jack Von Deck, and on July 10, 1984 by her grandson, Bert Barnett. In addition, she was predeceased by all her siblings, Charles, Frederick, Fortunato, Albert, and John Pandiani, and Mary Arrigoni.

Funeral services will be held at Living Rock Church in Killingworth for Johanna and her son Jack.  Anyone who would like to be notified of the service (tentatively scheduled for June 25), please contact Living Rock Church at (860) 669-2069 or the Swan Funeral Home, Clinton (www.swanfh.com).  They will call with all details in June.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Genesis Memory Garden in honor of Johanna and sent to Lebanon Center - Genesis Healthcare, c/o Martha Chesley, 24 Old Etna Rd., Lebanon, NH. 03766.  The Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
