Arlene Ruth (Beebe) Battick, 83, North Haven


Arlene Ruth (Beebe) Battick, 83, of Montowese Ave., North Haven, died peacefully on Dec. 7 at the Highland Nursing Care Center in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Gregory Daniel Battick. Arlene was born in Waterbury on March 30, 1927, daughter of the late George Frederick and Hazel Townsend Beebe. She attended Wilby High School and later the University of Connecticut in the early 1940s.

Arlene led a full life as a mother of five and a working woman. She was employed at Sears Roebuck in the late 1950s and also worked for several years in the out-placement job center for students in the 1960s at New Haven College (now known as the University of New Haven). She also worked for a short while as secretary for a local North Haven Insurance Company before partnering up with her late husband and working until retirement as a manufacturing representative for Emerson Swan, Greg Battick Associates, and Nesco Mfg. of Meriden.

Arlene's passions included taking in retired greyhounds from REGAP and volunteering her time at the Columbus House in New Haven. She also attended St. Frances Cabrini Church and supported the Midnight Run by making lunches for the homeless. In addition, she was an avid fan of the UCONN Huskies Women's Basketball team.

She is survived by three children, Cynthia Ann Battick of Oakland, California, Chase Battick of Southbury, and Karl Battick and his wife Natalina of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Nathan Pacheco of Oakland, California, Zia Pacheco Lee of San Francisco, California, and Katie Louise Battick, formerly of Cheshire; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Raleigh Pacheco and twins Samantha and Lillian Pacheco Lee. She was predeceased by her son, Peter G. Battick, and her daughter, Susan W. Battick.

Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Friday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to go directly to St. Frances Cabrini Church, Pond Hill Rd., North Haven, on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., to attend a mass of Christian burial, immediately followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.
