Alma Hanks Engels, 100, of Bishop St., North Haven, died on Dec. 9 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on Jan. 19, 1910, daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel Hanks. She was a member of the International and New England Chapters of the American Bell Association and the North Haven Historical Society.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ina-Mae and Harold Schmidt, and her grandson and his wife, Patrick and Charlotte Schmidt.

Funeral services will be conducted at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
