12/02/2010 11:00 PMMarcia Reed Ryan, 72, of Old Saybrook, died Nov. 10 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a result of a massive stroke. She was the wife of the late John Ryan. Born in Albany, New York, Marcia attended Albany Academy for Girls and Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. She was also a founding member of the Con Brio Choral Society and remained active with the group until her death.
Marcia loved music, traveling the world, art, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many close friends from throughout her life. Her generosity, grace, intellect, and humor will be greatly missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Amity Reed. She is also survived by her son, David DeGraff and his wife Michelle, and her two grandsons, Gregory and Alex.
A memorial service will be held at the Old Lyme Congregational Church on Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Con Brio Choral Society, P.O. Box 312, Centerbrook, CT 06409.
