John L. Kastukevich, 53, Wallingford


John L. Kastukevich, 53, of Wallingford, died Nov. 3 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a 5 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. John was born in Meriden on Aug. 28, 1957, son of the late John Kastukevich and Bessie Watson Kastukevich. A life-long Wallingford resident, he was the owner of Value Print in Clinton at the time of his illness.

John was a member of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and a great friend to many in Clinton. He was also active with the Libero Pensiero Club in Wallingford and was a member of the Pine Grove Men’s Club. He enjoyed many years of playing in the Wallingford Men’s and Co-ed Softball Leagues and the Wallingford Recreation Men’s Basketball League, and he was an avid Oakland Raiders and New York Yankees fan. He will be missed a great deal by his family and many, many friends.

His family thanks Dr. Cooper and his staff for their care over the last five years and also the doctors and nurses of the Yale-New Haven Neurological ICU for their wonderful compassion during his final days.

He is survived by his brother, Greg Kastukevich and his wife Veronica of Wallingford; two sisters, Cindy Mansfield and her husband Arthur of Wallingford and Betsey McKee of Georgia; and his very special friend, Maryanne Bordelon of Wallingford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Private burial will take place in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Dr. Mel Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Yale Cancer Office of Development, P.O. Box 7611, New Haven, CT 06519-0611.
