10/27/2010 12:00 AMAngela Marie Maler, 80, of Madison, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Oct. 24 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the wife of Stephen Maler, Sr. Born in New Haven on Aug. 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Dadurka Cappella. A resident of Ansonia for 38 years, she and Stephen moved to Florida in 1995, and then to Madison five years ago.
Always a loving wife and mother, Angela was also a bookkeeper, and before her retirement 16 years ago, she had worked for Stellar’s Automotive in Shelton. A talented musician, Angela had been a member of an all-women orchestra from 1944 to 1948 where she played the saxophone. She was also an organist and loved knitting, crocheting, and vacationing on Cape Cod.
While living in Florida, she became “Snookie”, an active member of The Clown Association of Florida, volunteering her time to bring a needed smile to the faces of so many.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen Maler, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of North Branford; a daughter, Jannine Maler Malicki and her husband Frank of Clinton; and a son, Bruce Maler and his wife Kim of Shelton. She is also survived by five beloved grandchildren, Stephen III, Amy, Brian, Megan, and Bruce, and a treasured great-granddaughter, Taya. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Cappella.
Her funeral procession will leave the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd., (Rte 22 South at Rte 80), North Branford, on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 9:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, North Branford, at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m.
