Mary Ellen “Mae” Maier, 86, North Haven, formerly of Hicksville, New York
Mary Ellen “Mae” Maier, 86, of North Haven, formerly of Hicksville, New York, died on Aug. 19. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. Maier She was born Mary Ellen Thome in Queens, New York, on Feb. 9, 1924, daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Thome.
Besides her loving husband, she will be missed dearly by her daughters, Peggy A. Maier and her husband Joseph J. Dagrosa of Guilford and Lou Ann Maier and her partner Rachel Springer of Gaithersburg, Maryland, as well as her grandchildren, Debra Roberts and her husband Stephen of Stony Creek, Suzanne Giordano and her significant other, Dave Martinez, of Meriden, Lori Bennett and her husband Richard Bennett III of East Haddam, Leela (Saxena) Magny and her husband Edmond of Clarksville, Maryland, and Ravi Saxena of Fairfax, Virginia. She was also the adored great-grandmother of Korey Speller, Trevon Freeman, Nick, Alex, Jacob, and Samuel Roberts, Lyla Mae-Adeline Bennett, and Richard Bennett IV. She was predeceased by her brother, Andrew Thome; her sister-in-law, Agnes Thome; and her niece, Patricia (Thome) Csillag.
A funeral procession was held from the North Haven Funeral Home on Aug. 23, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Barnabas Church, North Haven. Burial was in Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. Flowers and contributions may be sent to the Connecticut Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
